Dr. Peter Smith
I graduated from the University of Sydney in 1999 and my intern year was at Westmead. I enjoyed the critical care terms immediately and initially wanted to practice emergency medicine; however I moved to intensive care and later anaesthesia. My anaesthetic training was at Westmead and its peripheral hospitals, and I gained my Fellowship in the College of Anaesthetists in 2010. My main clinical interests are in high risk obstetric anaesthesia, and love working with residents and registrars in our department. I did some lab research in 1996 in molecular biology; I look forward to re-starting this side of my life again. I love working in the public health sector, and spend most of my time as a Staff Specialist at Westmead. Outside work, I am the worst kind of dilettante with interests in science, history and government. I love scuba diving and am religiously devoted to the Sydney Swans. I can be found most days in the Department of Anaesthesia.
