Dr Mark Douglas is an Infectious Diseases Physician with a strong research interest in hepatitis C virus (HCV). He treats Infectious Diseases patients at Westmead Hospital, including HIV and viral hepatitis, through the Centre of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. He also runs a hepatitis treatment clinic at Blacktown Hospital.
Dr Douglas is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. He heads the HCV Pathogenesis group at the Storr Liver Unit, Westmead Millennium Institute. His research focuses on the basic pathogenesis of HCV infection, including interactions with lipid metabolism and insulin resistance.
